Hungary in general and Budapest in particular feature a temperate, transitional climate. The region of Transdanubia benefits from a mild climate, with a predominantly rainy weather, while the area of the Great Plain exhibits a variable climate.

Average temperatures during the summer season range between 25 degrees Celsius (in June) and 27 degrees Celsius (in July and August). Winter months average values range from 2 degrees (in January) and 5 degrees (in February).

Budapest receives the largest amount of precipitations in November, May and June.
